Day One -- Monday, September 18, 2017

Fly from Buffalo to Dublin via JFK, using Jet Blue and Aer Lingus. Flight from Buffalo leaves at 5:00pm, and we arrive in Dublin the net morning at 9:00am-ish. Sleep on the plane!

Day Two -- Tuesday, September 19

OK, we've arrived at Dublin Airport, cleared customs, and it's 8:40am. Our soon-to-be-best-buddy Dave Spillane will meet us and escort us to the coach. We'll jump on, and head right into Dublin, and do a tour of the Guinness Brewery, with its famous 'Gravity Bar'. We'll do a driving tour of the area, then check into the Jury's Inn Christchurch in the early afternoon, and have all day and evening to discover Dublin, and have a pint.

Day Three -- Wednesday, September 20

We start the day with breakfast in the hotel, a full Irish breakfast every day ... then into the coach at 9am for a day tour of the Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough, Avoca Woolen Mills and lots more. Back fairly early for an afternoon and evening on your own to see the sights of Dublin.

Day Four -- Thursday, September 21

Into the bus at 9:00am to start making our way to Killarney. We'll stop in Kildare to visit the Kildare Stud Farm, and Japanese gardens. Lunch in Kilkenny probably, then it's into Killarney by late afternoon. We check into our hotel, and start the first of three nights in beautiful Killarney Town.

Day Five -- Friday, September 22

Jaunting car tour of the Lakes of Killarney, and a visit to Blarney Castle, Blarney Woolen Mills, and historic Cobh.

Day Six -- Saturday, September 23

An amazing drive today around the Ring of Kerry!

Day Seven -- Sunday, September 24

Off to Galway! We'll take the ferry across the Shannon River to Tarbert, and visit the Cliffs of Moher on the way (for Brian). Through the Burren, and around Galway Bay. A very old, very young city, Galway has excellent shopping just outside the hotel doors, fantastic music, and fun people. Two nights at the Jurys Inn Spanish Arch, in the heart of the walkable center-city.

Day Eight -- Monday, September 25

Day trip includes, most likely, a quick tour of the Connemara region, with a marble factory stop, and shopping visit to Standun's in Spiddal, the be-all and end-all for shopping for sweaters, linens, gifts, etc.

Day Nine -- Tuesday, September 26

Early morning for the drive across to the Dublin Airport to board at about 11:00am. We're back to Buffalo at about 4:30pm.

Again, all of these arrangements are tentative, and subject to change.

A deposit of $300 will guarantee your seat, and is refundable until April 4th, when the balance of the trip is due. We recommend your consider a Trip Insurance investment (usually about $120 per person, AAA offers a good package (*** AAA prices seem to be higher this year, checking into it)) to provide for a return of your trip payment in the case of sickness, etc. After full payment in April, any potential for cancellation reimbursement is subject to the trip re-filling to its maximum 50 people per coach, and subject to change fees at the minimum.

Currency: The Euro is worth about $1.07. We recommend buying your pounds and euros after you've arrived. There are ATM's all over, which accept US credit and debit cards. BE SURE to let your credit card company know you'll be traveling to Ireland and Northern Ireland, or they might turn down your transaction in the name of fraud prevention. All restaurants and most pubs take credit cards.

Gratuities: Generally bartenders do not expect tips. If you get to know them a little, it's nice to leave something. Waitresses, however, DO count on tips, and 15% is normal nowadays. Our driver, the lovely David, also depends on your tips. We require a minimum of 30 euros per person tip for Dave, which you can give to him personally on the last day of the trip. Don't be embarrassed about giving him more, he's worth it!
